Born in new zealand and raised in Australia, I have spent over 21 years living and studying in Japan. I am a resident of the beautiful amami oshima and have created this page to share the different things I do for a living.
I am a certified tour guide Specializing in private adventure, nature, and cultural tours on amami oshima. Beyond tour guiding, I am actively involved in a local distillery doing some truly amazing stuff. It's called Nishihira Shuzo, and We make a unique liquor known as kokuto shochu, a regionally exclusive drop only made on the islands. I act as the producer and devise new projects encompassing design, aging, and promotion. I am very blessed to be at the intersection of two amazing industries.
I also do a little bit of filmography with my sony alpha, DJI drone, and GoPro 9. You can find some of my clips under the filmography tab. Before doing all of this, I worked as a translator for about 16 years...so I wear a few hats. On the topic of hats, I dabble with designs featuring my freehand scribbles. You can find some of my gear on this site, too.
Feel free to get in touch, and wherever your travels may take you, enjoy the journey.
